Johan Jern and Realm
We then turn our attention to Johan Jern and his work at Realm. Realm is a platform that combines large language models with internal company knowledge, offering businesses a powerful tool for conversational search. Realm’s main purpose is to act as an AI assistant that helps employees quickly and accurately retrieve information from company resources like Slack, Confluence, and Google Drive.
Johan also emphasizes the importance of building a lean but highly efficient team. At present, Realm consists of only seven people: three co-founders, three engineers, and a sales lead. Despite the small size, Johan believes that their focused approach allows the team to iterate quickly and improve the product without the distractions that can come with rapid scaling.
When asked about the challenges Realm faced during its early days, Johan reflects on the decision to build in stealth mode. While he acknowledges that launching earlier might have had its advantages, he stands by the decision to wait until the product was robust enough for public use. Now, with the company ready to expand, Johan is excited about the opportunities ahead.
